Cars and Lemon Laws
Years ago my father purchased a used car for me. The body was in excellent condition. However lurking in the mechanicals of the car were several nightmares.
The first thing to go wrong was the missing lock for the special spoke hubcaps. Of course I didn’t find this out until I had a flat tire in a parking garage in the city! Ugh! This was just a few days after putting the car on the road.
Within the next month or so the CV joints started to make noise. That’s when I wish we lived in California. California lemon law lawyers are awesome! We tried to hire one here but none would meet with us as we didn’t have enough damages…. yet.
So the CV joints were replaced and it was quiet an expense. A few more months passed and all of a sudden the transmission started to act up. It was an automatic and I was and always have been careful with switching gears. Complete stops before going into park, reverse or drive. Ok so we called the gentleman who sold us the car and he refused to help us. I had only owned the car about 6 months and dad had taken a loan out to buy it. California Lemon Law attorneys would have help I know but still NY lawyers wouldn’t touch our problem.
So we paid to have the transmission fixed. And again in a few months we were right back to having CV joint trouble AND transmission trouble again.
At this time dad gave me money for a down payment on a brand new car and the dealer took my lemon in on trade.
New Year, New Changes
With the New Year come a lot of changes for some people. We all say we’re going to do things and accomplish various goals when a New Year rolls around but how many people actually get things done. This year I decided I wasn’t going to make “resolutions” but rather if I do something that doesn’t work out I was going to write it down and never do it again. My first one… never give the dog beer!! Oh yes… New Years eve I gave the dog beer and we all noticed it’s affects for several days afterward! LOL
Many folks plan on getting healthy or in shape. Me? Being a diabetic I’m always working on that part of life. Other people try to quit smoking. Haven’t hear of this one working for anyone this year so far, but not many of my friends smoke anymore.
For some people change isn’t easy. I’ve heard of a few folks working on divorces. Like the New Year is the time to decide such a thing… One is consulting with divorce lawyer barrie. It’s all strange to me…. divorce law can be SO confusing! So glad I’m not the one dealing with THAT this year.
I know a few friends are trying to lose weight… again… that falls under my diabetes.
Have you made any decisions / changes / resolutions for the New Year?
Taking Care of Mom and Dad
The Author of this post is Cheryl Martinez
My mom and dad are getting older, and I worry about them being at home alone all the time. My mom is not as mobile as she used to be, and it pains me to think of anything happening to her and my father. I also travel a lot for work and I can’t always be there for them. My brother lives in town near them but he is completely irresponsible. I can’t trust him to be there for them if I am out of town. It makes me angry but I can’t do anything about it. Rather than stew, I have decided that I have to take matters into my own hands. I looked into adt home security North carolina for them but I’m not sure they will be able to handle it. They are not too advanced when it comes to technology and I think they might set off the alarm on their own if I install it. I am in the middle of a real dilemma. I can go ahead and get the alarm and hope for the best, or I can see how things go for now.
